How we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
Last updated: 25 March 2026
1. Who we are
FairFetch Ltd (“FairFetch”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates fairfetch.co.uk and the associated practice dashboard at dashboard.fairfetch.co.uk. We are a UK-based company providing a transparent veterinary price comparison service for pet owners, and a listing and analytics platform for registered veterinary practices. For data protection purposes, FairFetch Ltd is the data controller. You can reach us at hello@fairfetch.co.uk.
2. What data we collect
We collect different categories of data depending on how you use FairFetch:
Pet owners and site visitors
- Search queries including location (city, postcode or coordinates) and treatment type.
- Device and browser information collected automatically by our analytics tools.
- IP address and approximate location for security and fraud prevention.
- Contact details (name, email) if you submit an enquiry or contact us directly.
- Cookie identifiers — see our Cookie Policy for details.
Veterinary practices (dashboard users)
- Practice name, address, postcode, telephone number, email address, and website URL.
- RCVS registration number.
- Published price lists, opening hours, and practice features.
- Account credentials (email and hashed password via AWS Cognito).
- Billing details processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers.
- Analytics data: page views, phone clicks, email clicks, and website clicks on your listing.
3. How we use your data
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- To deliver search results and allow pet owners to compare vet prices in their area.
- To display public vet listings, including price information as required by CMA guidance.
- To operate the practice dashboard, including managing listings and processing payments.
- To send transactional emails (e.g. account verification, password reset) to registered vets.
- To provide vets with anonymised analytics about their listing engagement.
- To improve the platform through aggregated, anonymised usage analysis.
- To comply with legal obligations, including the CMA’s veterinary pricing requirements.
- To detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive use of the platform.
4. Legal basis for processing
- Contractual necessity — processing required to provide the dashboard service to registered vet practices (account management, billing, listing publication).
- Legitimate interests — operating and improving the comparison platform, providing pet owners with relevant search results, and sending analytics to practices about their own listing activity.
- Legal obligation— supporting compliance with the CMA’s remedies for the veterinary sector and applicable data protection law.
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and any marketing communications, where we obtain your explicit opt-in.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share data only where necessary with the following trusted processors, all of whom are contractually bound to process data only on our instructions:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting, storage (S3), and authentication (Cognito). Data is stored in the EU (Ireland) region.
- Stripe — payment processing for vet practice subscriptions. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant.
- Google — Places API for location autocomplete (search queries only; no personal data is sent).
- Postcodes.io — open-source UK postcode geocoding; no personal data is transmitted.
We may disclose data to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law.
6. Data retention
- Pet owner searches — search queries are not stored against any individual. Aggregated, anonymised trend data may be retained indefinitely.
- Practice accounts — retained for the duration of the subscription and for up to 7 years after account closure for legal and accounting purposes.
- Analytics events — listing view and click data is retained for 24 months on a rolling basis.
- Support correspondence — emails and enquiries are retained for 3 years.
7. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your data where there is no lawful reason to retain it.

9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law.
